Gallery at 12 Placement

Today i visited the Gallery at 12 in Eccleshall, and spoke to Jo Hill a textile artist and member of the gallery who was manning the space on her allocated day.

She explained that the gallery is run as a cooperative with a total of 14 artists, each with a different specialism and run the gallery space on independant days. So i've organised to spend the day in the gallery with certain artists whom i'd be interested to talk to about their specialism, Jo was quite happy for me to spend a few days in the gallery and to pick the brains of artists involved. So will email the artists tonight for confirmation and to ensure its alright for me to shadow them.

When looking through the artists i'd be quite interested to spend time talking to Angela Smith, as she specialises in creating bespoke handmade jewellery and is scheduled to run the gallery next Thursday. So have decided to spend the day with her at the gallery, opening times are 10-5 Mon- Saturday.

Im also wanting to talk to painter Wayne Tomlinson who is resident at the gallery on a Monday, so i will hopefully spend the day at the gallery then aswell, this will give me the opportunity to view the works on display and talk to the artists about their practise, giving me a different perspective of independant practioners and how the gallery works. But i have yet to confirm a second date with the gallery.
